Friends, Family and Fun at Bear Lake

In December, we planned on just doing a small vacation near our house for our summer fun since Frank and I were going to be going to Mexico in May together, so we booked our time share at Bear Lake. Well, if you've been keeping up with our blog, you'll remember that it didn't quite work out as planned and we ended up taking a last minute trip to Florida with the kids. Since we had previously scheduled time to spend there with family and friends, we still decided to head up Logan Canyon to the lake. We hadn't been there for about threee years (I know--really sad when such a beautiful place is about an hour's drive from the house!) and when we got there, we were like, why haven't we come here more?

We arrived Friday evening, and met some really good friends of ours there, and went to the pool. We went to the lake Saturday for a few hours and spent some time with our friends the Forsgrens and Christensens,came home Saturday evening, went to chruch on Sunday, and then headed back up Sunday afternoon to Kendra's brothers and their families there for a few days.








On Monday we went to the pool in the morning, and to Minnetonka cave up St. Charels Canyon in the afternoon. It was such an amazing cave! I haven't been to Timpanogos cave since a was a beehive in YW's, but from what I remember, Minnetonka surpassed it in every way, except for the mile long hike to get to the cave, so if you like hiking to caves, Minnetonka is not for you. But we didn't mind at all, we quite enjoyed being able to walk to the mouth of the cave from the parking lot on a 150 ft. long wooden plank path! Pierce and Dayton's favorite part was the dwarf room. Frank and I thought the entire things was incredible! Poor Kennedy is in the midst of potty-training, and had to use the bathroom half-way through, once we got to the end, Frank rushed her back out of the cave as quick as he could, taking the Stairway to Heaven (a steep flight of 77 stairs) almost two-at-a-time. But, she was such a good girl and held it until he got back to the bathrooms in the parking lot with her!




On Tuesday, my younger brother Brighton and his wife Brooke, and my other brother Sterling's wife, Christy, and their boys Memphis and Jaden went back to the beach and ate lunch again. The kids had so much fun playing together. We even got in a game or two of Bocce Ball in the sand. Frank had to leave to go to the big Canyon School District kick-off festivities on Wednesday, so I stayed up without a vehicle with my younger brohter Brighton and his wife Brooke. Wednesday morning we went back to the pool (we're getting pretty water-logged at this point!)Chrsity also had to leave with Jaden adn Memphis on Tuesday. Wednesday a friend from college and her husband were going to come up after Brighton and Brooke left, but at the last minute couldn't make it, so I called another family from our neighborhood (Chris & Masha Laurence) to see if they wanted to use the other condo. They did, and so we had another two fun days with friends at the lake! Kennedy had eaten waaaay too much watermelon and was quite loose. On our third trip to the lake, she coudln't quite make it too the potty, and her swim bottoms got messed in. I cleaned herup and put her trunks in a grocery bag. Upon cleaning up all the garbage in and out of the car before leaving the beach our final time, I accidentally threw her swim trunks in the bag away! Fortunately I brought her old suit for Maleah to wear, put Maleah in her onsie, and put Kennedy in her old suit. She even fit into Maleah's capris, which were kneww length on Kennedy1 Too funny! Overall, it was a fabulous get-away! What a fun vacation! We even got milk shakes from LaBeau's one night which was the cherry on top!
