We had a good 24th of July/ Pioneer Day weekend. We went down to Kendra's parent's house to visit for a few days. We had fun playing games, pulling out all of Kendra's old Cabbage Patch dolls for Kennedy to play with. She (Kennedy) was so thrilled to finally have something to play with at Grandma's other than cars and Legos! She looked at me like: "Mom, c'mon! Why have you been holding out on me?!" We also took our slip n' slide down, and the kids were having so much fun, the guys thought they wanted to try it too, so we added 3 tarps so the "big kids" could have some fun in the water too! What a hoot! We forgot our camera, but took some pictures with Kendra's parent's camera and are waiting to have them emailed to us so we can post them on the blog (our next trip down to Alpine).
Friday morning we spent about an hour moving all of Kendra's parents' furniture out of thier bedroom in preparation for new carpet that will be installed. About 5 years ago they had a roof leak that went undetected for about 3 years. Kendra's mom had the carpets cleaned about a year ago, and all of this brown stuff came up to the surface in their bedroom under a nightstand. They thought it was just some type of stain off the nightstand, but when they looked under their bed, there was a bunch of brown stuff--water damage. So, they found the roof leak and repaired it. But, after taking the furniture out this last Friday, it was worse than they thought and upon tearing the carpet up, Kendra's dad realized he's going to need to repair some of the floor boards in the house. Kendra's mom wants him to knock out some sheet rock to see if there is damage there. Kendra's dad is reluctant to do so, and gave the "Father of the Bride II" line: "If one more thing goes wrong with this place, I'm going to put it up for sale!"---We'll see what happens! Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be too big of a job...good luck dad!
We hope everyone else is enjoying their summer. We'll definitely get some new pictures up soon!
