Happy 4th of July!

A couple of years ago, we held a neighborhood BBQ at our house on the 4th of July. It ended up getting rained out just after everyone finished eating their dinner. So last year we laid low, and just did things as a family, but we had many neighbors who wished we had done it. So this year we held it again. Kendra delivered most of the invitations before leaving for the family reunion, and then delivered the rest when we got home. We invited pretty much the entire Henry's Point neighborhood, about 42 invitations. The activities planned were: children's bike parade, children's craft table, children's games, homemade pie/ice-cream tasting contest, as well as BYOM BBQ.

About a half hour before it was to begin, some dark clouds rolled over and scattered a few sprinkles, but then the wind kicked up just as people started to arrive. Kendra was really hoping we wouldn't have to cancel the party due to weather. We really thought we might have to bring everyone inside, but after about 10 minutes, things died down and the sun came back out and we had a really enjoyable social. A ward division line runs right down our street, splitting the neighborhood in two. I t was really nice having everyone come together and catch up. We even had some brand new people whom no one really new attend with their little girl. It was great! We plan on doing it every year from here on out. So put it on your calendar now!
