Birthday Girls!

Kennedy and Maleah had birthdays in October and November. Kennedy turned 3, and Maleah turned 1. I can't believe how quickly the time passes each day with our kids. The older they get, the faster it seems to go. Kennedy begged us when we lived in Logan for a princess party with her friends. So, we decided we'd throw her a princess party here in Lehi and invite some of her very best friends from Logan and cousins from the area. She was so excited!

I made tulle ballerina skirts for each little friend and cousin coming to the party. I also attempted the infamous princess cake, and was quite pleased with the way it turned out. We had held a family party on her actual birthday, but it was hard to have a friend party in the middle of the week. So, Saturday mornning arrived and we got everything ready and decorated the house with princess decorations. None of Kennedy's friends could come down from Logan that weekend, but we had a new little neighbor friend come, and two second-cousins. We played a few games, but each little girl was so excited for the presents, and once that was completed, we could hardly get their attention to come and eat cake and ice cream. One cousin gave Kennedy a princess hair styling toy packet which included a toy straightener, curling iron, blow dryer, mirror, brush, and lipstick. The little girls were in princess heaven with this and kept wanting to play with it. After awhile, they did finally come and eat cake before the party was over.

Kennedy got some princess dress-ups for her birthday. She was so excited!

Maleah's 1st birthday crept up on us really fast. I think we were so focused on getting Halloween here and over with that the next thing we knew, it was her birthday! We didn't have a big celebration for her, just our family. Frank had SEP Conferences that week, and so his days were long, and he got home quite late each night. We waited until Frank got home for her to open presents and have cake and ice cream. For all our children's first birthdays, we've always made Angel Food cake. However, I found a really cute clown cupcake how-to in a recipe book, and wanted to try it. It turned out well, and Maleah giggled every time she saw them. We got her a v-tech walker/stroller. She wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but really like the fact that she got her own My Little Pony!

She was so excited about the balloons Daddy brought home for her.
