Pierce's Axioms

Pierce is at that age where is learning and discovering so much in the world around him. We've decided to name this entry "Pierce's Axioms" to demonstrate just a few of the things Pierce has stated to us recently:

1-To declare ownership, you need an apostrophe!

Pierce is really into writing his own books lately. He'll get a stack of computer printer paper, staple down one side and then begin to illustrate and write. One Sunday, he asked Kendra, "Mom, how do you say 'It's mine.'?" Kendra said: "Well, you explain to people that an item is yours." Pierce then said, "No Mom, how do you declare ownership?" Kendra replied, "That is mine!" "NO MOM, is it with an apostrophe or without an apostrophe?" Kendra is still trying to figure out how her six year old first grader learned the vocabulary "declare ownership". "It's with an apostrophe." she says giggling to herself.

2-That's NOT fair!

Pierce has really been into fairness lately. Usually he'll tell us this phrase when things aren't going according to his plans. Unfortunately it's over things like him wanting to play when he hasn't finished his chores, or not getting dessert when he hasn't finished his dinner...life is very faur we tell him, but he still won't believe us!

3-Magnetism is awesome!

Pierce has also been quite the little scientist lately. His favorite activity is rubbing nails or straight pins together and seeing what other objects he can pick up.

4-You're pretty much like an adult when you're 6, just smaller.

Pierce has been really wanting to help with so much lately...it's been great! He really likes to be independent with things like fixing his own after school snack, trying to carry Maleah down the stairs (I held her tight under her armpits!), and finishing his homework. He told Kendra the other day that when we go Mexico he can watch the kids...thanks Pierce!

5-Life is supposed to be fun and enjoyed to the very fullest!

Pierce finds everyway possible to fulfill this axiom. Sometimes I feel I need to just let things go and see things through the eyes of our six year old!

On Feb. 21st, Pierce had his little song and dance performance a the school. The First grade sang and danced to "Pink Shoelaces". He was such a ham!
